As it happens one travels the country from time to time. While driving from Bárðardalur in the north east of Iceland after doing some farming with the inlaws, there is nothing better than to drive into a small town for a good cup of coffee. The town of Hvammstangi, known for Seals and the Seal museum. Small but a very lovely town.
The coffee house there is a marvel. A real home made feeling and the collection of small trinkets and old stuff on the walls. Even half the floor leans towards the ocean. Very charming indeed. A well worth going there for the soup alone and the homemade bread that comes with it. The coffee was good, not the best I have had, but very nice. The latte was ok to. But the place alone is well worth the trip. Went with my better half in beautiful weather and enjoyed the trip a lot. Most of the cakes and food is homemade. The woman who runs it is called María Sigurðardóttir and she is so nice. Explained all the collection on the walls and knows a lot about the place of Hvammstangi and the near rural area.
